ABA League 15th round, Sunday, 20.12.2015:
UNION OLIMPIJA - Igokea 79:63 (23:11, 24:22, 13:15, 17:15)
Game recap: Union Olimpija was way too strong for Igokea at home court of Stožice Arena in Ljubljana in the 15th round of the ABA League and it was more than evident already in the first half, after which there was no return for the guests into the battle for the triumph. The Dragons therefore managed to stand up after that painful defeat on the road in Skopje last round and have made two successes in a row, following the win in Oldenburg during the week in Eurocup. On the other hand, this was the fifth defeat in a row for Igokea in the regional competition. Their last victory is now 35 days old and they achieved it in Belgrade against Crvena zvezda Telekom.
Chris Booker made his debut for the Aleksandrovac side and he proved himself to be a significant reinforcement right away. He finished the game with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal and a block each in 25 minutes of the game.
Key moments: The game was more or less decided in the opening quarter, when the Dragons went 12 points up and then only upgraded their advantage in the second period. They left the court for the half time break with a 14-point lead (47:33) and managed to hold on to the lead tightly in the second half.
Man of the match: Sava Lešić proved himself as the true leader of the young Ljubljana squad, as he led them towards the triumph with 21 points, 8 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Since he topped his team in scoring, rebounding, valuation and a +/- rating, there is no dilemma regarding the selection of the man of this match.
Can"t trick the stats: It turned out this time that teamwork was more important than physique, since Igokea have outrebounded the winning side with 34:27, but Olimpija collected 8 assists more than the opponent (19:11). And…. they came out on top in the end.
