ABA League 19th round, Monday, 11.01.2016:

UNION OLIMPIJA - CRVENA ZVEZDA TELEKOM

Where? Stožice Arena, Ljubljana

When? 17:00

Story of the game: Big night for the basketball fans in Ljubljana is coming up on the last matchday of ABA League 19th round as Union Olimpija will celebrate their 70 years of existence in front of home crowd as they will face who else but the reigning regional competition champions Crvena zvezda Telekom, that will honour the event. The question remains, can they get away with a win and "spoil” the celebration of the home team and their crowd?

We will have to wait and see. There can be no argument regarding the favourites of the match, as Crvena zvezda Telekom are currently occupying the 3rd place in ABA League, while Union Olimpija are located in the bottom half but… the Dragons have already upset Zvezda once this season - on the road in 6th round of the season… and for sure, they will try to do it again.

Both teams were defeated during the week in European competitions - while Union Olimpija lost on the road in Tel Aviv against Maccabi FOX, Crvena zvezda Telekom were left without a chance in Pionir Hall against Fenerbahce. So this will be a nice opportunity for both of them to stand up - especially for Zvezda, which haven"t tasted the victory since the arrival of new year.

Match-up in focus: Crvena zvezda Telekom will face a test at the point guard position, as Marcus Williams has left the team and now much is in hands of Stefan Jović, who is having a breakout season, but now has lots of burden upon him, since his backup Vasilije Micić still has to adapt to the team and Nikola Rebić hasn't had much opportunity to stand out until now as 3rd point guard. On the other side, Olimpija's main star Zack Wright has received back-up at Union Olimpija"s side with the arrival of Dawan Robinson. The American will try to prove himself against undisputably one of the best point guards of the competition and we will see which way the battle will go.
