Union Olimpija face Nizhny Novgorod in Eurocup

The situation is not that bright for Union Olimpija after opening 3 rounds of the Eurocup LAST 32 stage. Nevertheless, the Dragons have gone to Russia with hope that they could upset Nizhny Novgorod (Tuesday, 17:30 CET).

Three rounds and all three defeats. Union Olimpija are at the edge of losing all chances for advancing to the next stage of the Eurocup LAST 32 phase. Still, it must be admitted that the Dragons have found themselves in probably the most difficult group of this stage, with rivals such as Maccabi Tel Aviv, UNICS Kazan and Nizhny Novogord.

Despite all three defeats, Union Olimpija was a worthy opponent to all rivals. Last week, the squad from Ljubljana had quite a battle with Nizhny Novgorod in Stožice Hall, while the Russian side won the game by 79:73 at the end. Now, the Dragons face the same opponent, only this time the game will be played in Russia, in front of Nizhny Novgorod fans.

It will be very difficult, but Union Olimpija will certainly not step on the court with a white flag…
