Preseason: Cibona, Mega Leks and Krka victorious

Mega Leks have beaten Lukoil Academic in Sremska Mitrovica. Krka topped Jiangsu Dragons in Novo mesto. In an ABA League clash in Zagreb, Cibona beat Union Olimpija in Zagreb, while in Zadar Darussafaka Dogus were too strong for Budućnost VOLI and Fenerbahce for Cedevita.

With a convincing margin of 23 points, Darussafaka Dogus have been better in the end than Budućnost VOLI at the Dogus Basketball Tournament in Zadar. Budućnost, that were playing without their captain Suad Šehović were without any chance, as they were trailing by 16 points already at half time and the difference between the two teams has risen to 23 points at the end of the game. The final score was 80:57 in favour of the Turkish side.Nemanja Vranješ was the top scorer of the Podgorica squad with 13 points, while Petar Popović added 12 to follow him.

Mega Leks have edged out Lukoil Academic at home in Pinki Hall in Sremska Mitrovica by a point, after a game-winning layup scored by Radovan Đoković in the dying second of the game. The final score in Mitrovica is 78:77 for the home side, for which Marko Tejić led the way in scoring with 15 points. Point guard Ognjen Jaramazscored 13 to take the second place in the scorers’ list.

Krka have beaten Chinese side Jiangsu Dragons at home in Leon Štukelj Hall, Novo mesto and they have done it convincingly with a final margin of 26 points (89:63). The game was decided no later than by half time, when the side, led by Dejan Mihevc from the bench were up by 20 points. In the second half they only maintained their advantage easily. Marko Luković was the top scorer of Krka with 16 points, Ron Curry added 15.

In the clash of two ABA League rivals, Cibona have outgunned Union Olimpija after overtime at home in Dražen Petrović Arena, Zagreb. The two sides were playing a close game for the entire 45 minutes and they have proven it by reaching a tie at the 91:91 score after regular part of the game. In the overtime, Cibona was the team to come out on top and celebrated in the end with the score of 109:108. Brandon Jefferson was the top scorer of the game with 34 points scored for Union Olimpija. His teammate Nikola Janković added 15. On the winning side, Željko Šakić led his team to the triumph with 32 points and Ante Toni Žižić assisted him with 23 points. 

In the last game of the day in Zadar, Fenerbahce were too too strong for Cedevita and they have confirmed it in the second half after being behind by two points at half time. The crucial one was the third quarter, when Cedevita allowed the Turks to score 21 points, while scoring only 10 themselves over the period of 10 minutes. The final score was 88:77 in Fenerbahce’s favour and it was Mirza Begić who was the best in scoring at Cedevita’s side – he scored 18. Scotty Hopson and Marko Arapović added 12 apiece.
