Not a single ABA League club managed to score a win in the 1st round of the 2016/17 Eurocup season.
Four games – Four defeats. Unfortunately, this is the score of ABA League teams at the start of the new Eurocup campaign.
MZT Skopje Aerodrom were the closest to score a win this Wednesday evening, but they were just out of luck in the final seconds. The squad from Skopje performed a miraculous comeback in the final quarter of the match against Lietkabelis and they even took the lead on 3,4 seconds before the end – 89:88. However, after the hosts called for a time-out, they somehow managed to score a game-winner. Lorenzo Williams missed a jumper, but the ball fell right in the hands of Donatas Tarolis who made the shot at the buzzer and Lietkabelis scored a win – 90:89.
As for the others, Union Olimpija were a worthy opponent to Lokomotiv Kuban, but the Russian team still made a break in Ljubljana – 72:64.
Budućnost VOLI managed to keep the pace against Murcia only for a bit more than 20 minutes, but then the Spanish team started speeding up and ended up victorious in this clash – 86:77.
Finally, Cedevita suffered heavy defeat in Spain in the match against Gran Canaria – 76:101.
