Two teams that have found themselves in trouble lately will face in the first game of Sunday’s programme in Zagreb. Can Cibona win again after two defeats? Or can MZT make the first step towards avoiding relegation?
ABA League 17th round, Sunday, 8.1.2017:
Where? Dražen Petrović Arena, Zagreb
When? 17:00
Story of the game: In the first game of Sunday’s busy ABA League schedule, Cibona will host MZT Skopje Aerodrom in Dražen Petrović Arena in Zagreb. The home side wishes to stand up after two defeats in the ABA League that have kept them out of the top four after the departure of their starting center Ante Žižić.
MZT Skopje, on the other hand, are currently struggling at the bottom of the standings alone with only four games won so far and they desperately need to start winning again after four defeats suffered in a row, in order to maintain realistic chances of avoiding relegation.
MZT are hoping that the fact that their new head coach Ante Nazor knows Cibona’s squad perfectly, could help them to upset on the road.
Cibona’s advantage could be that their boss Damir Mulaomerović will probably be able to count on all players, since only Nik Slavica is currently questionable to appear. On the other side, MZT are coming to Zagreb without injured Jure Lalić and Stojan Gjuroski.
Match-up in focus: With the absence of the starting centers that have been carrying the teams throughout the season it will be interesting to watch and learn which one will do better this time to lead his team to victory – Emir Sulejmanović of Cibona or Josh Scott of MZT? The latter one has had the highest valuation amongst all players last round, so the challenge ahead of Sulejmanović is huge. Will he be able to handle it?
Head to head in regional league: In total 5:4; In Zagreb 3:1.
