The members of the Special Olympics were the guests of the 1st game of the ABA League Finals in Belgrade. They will also take part of the official programme in Game 3 in Zagreb.
Besides the presentation of our dear guests before the beginning of the game, they will also have a chance to play a short exhibition game during the half time break.
The fans in Belgrade welcomed them with a big applause.
Special Olympics was established in 1968 in the USA as a programme, promoting sporting activities in different Olympics’ sports for the persons with intellectual disabilities. Since then more than 150 countries of the World have joined the programme, today connecting more than 4 million athletes. Through its programmes, the Special Olympics is striving towards benefiting the healthy development of individuals and their integration in the society in the long term.
We are convinced that this is the beginning of a long-term and beautiful cooperation between the ABA League and the Special Olympics, which will help the children and adults with intellectual disabilities to integrate into the community in an easier way.
