After winning 3 consecutive championships, Crvena zvezda mts have lost the ABA League title. The Belgrade powerhouse was defeated by Budućnost VOLI in the last-season Finals and that defeat caused numerous changes in the red & white team.
First of, the club appointed Milan Tomić as new head coach, while he will have a brand new team to work with in the season to come.
Crvena zvezda mts have decided to keep just 5 players from the end of the last season – team captain Branko Lazić, Ognjen Dobrić, Dejan Davidovac, Marko Kešelj and Filip Čović, while they added no less than 7 newcomers.
Let's start with fans' favorite Maik Zirbes, who returned to the club after two years. Zvezda have also brought back their former junior Dušan Ristić, who spent the last 4 years in the NCAA playing for Arizona Wildcats. The red & whites also signed ex Lokomotiv Novosibirsk point guard Joe Ragland, then a 3-time EuroLeague champion Stratos Perpeloglou, experienced power forward Mouhammad Faye, a combo guard Billy Baron and a strong center Michael Ojo.
Looking at the current roster, this is definitely an interesting group of players, which is quite capable of achieving big things in the season to come.
And, it is quite clear what the main goal of Crvena zvezda mts is. The red & whites have lost the title… Now they want it back.
