The ABA League season is still in its early stages but many players have gotten off to a very strong start offensively. The table above lists the competition’s most efficient scorers at three levels of usage. The maximums and minimums of the three ranges were set to separate nearly the same number of players into each range.
Range 1: High Volume Scorers
Lance Harris has gotten off to an excellent start for Koper Primorska. He ranks fourth in points per game to this point but leads the ABA League in points per possession by a significant margin among high volume players. He has shot the ball well both off the catch and off the dribble in the early going to lead his team to 4 wins in 5 games.
Duop Reath, Marko Jošilo, and Marko Simonović are the only players from their respective teams on the highest volume list with each playing a considerable roles from the forward spot. This list features more of a mix of positions than is has in the past.
Crvena zvezda mts accounts for three players on the list but are still looking to hit their stride offensively. They figure to be very formidable if they can establish a presence in the post and space the floor more consistently than they have in the early going. They have already risen to rank 3rd in offensive efficiency as a group, but still possess significant potential to improve.
Shane Gibson and Justin Cobbs have been two of the league’s more effective guards in the early going. Cobbs has been tough to contain off the dribble while Gibson’s low-mistake style has driven his efficiency as even at similar positions the way players achieve their efficiency differs.
Range 2: Mid-Level Scorers
Aleksa Radanov has been the ABA League’s most efficient player all-around by a wide margin. He narrowly misses qualifying for the highest usage bucket but leads the entire competition in points per game anyway. Making shots at a tremendous rate from the perimeter, Radanov has also been very opportunistic inside playing the best basketball of his career in recent weeks.
Roleplayers Danilo Nikolić and Suad Šehović do not play huge roles, but have been exceptionally efficient in roles built primarily around spot up opportunities. It is no surprise that Budućnost VOLI has been the league’s most efficient floor spacing group and that starts with its veteran shooters.
Mornar has an efficient pair of floor spacers of their own in Antabia Waller and Damir Markota who have both done a nice job playing off of Jacob Pullen.
On a list featuring mostly shooters, Hassan Martin is an outlier as his bruising play in the paint has helped him keep pace with the league’s top three-point threats.
Range 3: Small-Role Scorers
Artsiom Parakhouski and Luka Božić have not played very big roles, but both have been very efficient in limited changes. Mega Bemax places three players on this list all of whom are under the age of 22. Jurij Macura in particular is a player to watch as he turned in an excellent showing in limited minutes against Budućnost VOLI and is still coming into his own in his first full season playing against quality competition.
