Game recap: In an exciting overtime thriller, Igokea have prevailed over Partizan NIS at home in Laktaši and grabbed their fourth consecutive win in the ABA League. With four wins on their record right now, Igokea will remain in the Playoffs race after five rounds. On the other side, Partizan NIS are struggling in the moment to achieve their goals, set ahead of the season, as they now hold 2 wins and 3 defeats after five rounds played and they still have a lot of work to do in their battle to reach the top four when the Regular Season ends.
Key moments: The game has been extremely exciting in its regular part already, as for the majority of the 40 minutes of the playing time, the teams have remained close. When it seemed that Igokea would grab a win in the regular time, Novica Veličković stepped up to score a three-pointer with 10 seconds remaining, which secured the overtime for the black and white.
In the extra five minutes, however, Partizan NIS were the ones to start better and were up 82:80 after two minutes of overtime. But that’s when Igokea went on an 8:0 run within just half of a minute and turned the game completely upside down, leading 88:82 with a bit more than two minutes left on the overtime clock. Partizan NIS never managed to bounce back after this until the end of the game.
Man of the match: Jackie Carmichael shined for Igokea throughout the game, as he led them to the win with 27 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound, steal and block each and a valuation of 29. He is our man of the match.
Can’t trick the stats: Even though the teams have been pretty tied when it comes up to many statistical categories, Igokea prevailed in this game thanks to their better assists/turnovers ratio. They had 21 assists and 13 turnovers, while Partizan NIS had 13 assists and 23 turnovers. That was crucial in the end.
