Can Igokea troops repeat the historic success from the last season?

Igokea are back among the top teams of the region! The boys from Laktaši made a huge success last season as they reached the 2021 ABA Playoffs and despite losing the battle for the finals against future champions Crvena zvezda mts, this club definitely deserve a big applause for everything it has done over the last year.

Of course, the main question now is whether Igokea can repeat that success already in this season. Well, we will have to wait a bit to find out the answer, but let’s say that this club once again has a great base for achieving big results.

First of all, the mastermind of all their biggest successes in the past is still there! We are obviously talking about Igokea’s head coach Dragan Bajić who has led this team toward the regional league semi-finals two times so far. Bajić will have most of the last-season roster at his disposal in the following year, still it must be mentioned that Igokea did lose some of the key players from the 2020/21 campaign, including Jackie Carmichael, Edin Atić, Anthony Clemmons, Nikola Jovanović and Stefan Pot.

The team management have worked hard over the summer to find suitable replacements for the players that have left the team and, according to the team's preseason results, it seems that Igokea once again have a strong roster. The Laktaši side penned deals with three Americans - DeShawn Stephens (Bakken Bears), Markel Starks (Avtodor Saratov) and James Robinson (Loewen Braunschweig), then they picked up Aleksa Radanov from Crvena zvezda mts and Stefan Đorđević from FMP, while they also brought in one of the best players from the last-season ABA 2 championship Nikola Tanasković (Borac Banja Luka).

Igokea looks very good on the paper. We just have to wait to see whether the newcomers will click with the players from the last-season roster.
