Story of the game: Sunday at noon. That’s the time when Mega Basket usually play their AdmiralBet ABA League games and that’s the time when the Pink troops will start their 2021/22 campaign.

In the opening round of the new season, Mega Basket will host league newcomers SC Derby and considering how many talented players both sides have in their rosters, this match should be very interesting to watch.

The main question for Mega Basket ahead of the new season is how will they look without their two main stars from the last-year roster – Filip Petrušev and Marko Simonović. Now, when the “Twin Towers“ are no longer in the team, the Pink troops will have to find some other guys to step up and replace that famous Petrušev-Simonović tandem. The good news for this team is that even though they have stayed without two best players, there are plenty of extremely talented youngsters in the current roster who might shine already in this season.

At the same time, SC Derby want to pick up where they left off in the previous season. The boys from Podgorica have won the 2020/21 AdmiralBet ABA 2 championship in a very powerful way, while now they want to show that they are ready for the top flight of the regional basketball. And with some very interesting new names in the roster, SC Derby might be a very dangerous opponent to anyone in the league.

Match-up in focus: Karlo Matković (Mega Basket) vs. Kenan Kamenjaš (SC Derby).

Matković is now the starting center of Mega Basket and he was very, very good during the preseason games. On the other side, Kamenjaš was one of the best players of the last year’s AdmiralBet ABA 2 championship and he is eager to show his full potential in ABA 1.

Therefore, this duel should be quite interesting.
