Game recap: Budućnost VOLI have finished the year in style as they defeated Borac on the road after performing a huge comeback in the 4th quarter. The visitors were down by 10 points – 69:59, with 6 minutes before the end, while then they made a 16:0 run to take over the lead – 69:75! In the rest of the match, the Podgorica side has managed to stay in front and to seize a very valuable win.
Budućnost VOLI now have the overall score of 10-3, while Borac are at 4-9.
Key moments: Without their head coach Aleksandar Džikić and starting point guard Justin Cobbs, and with just 9 players available to play the game, Budućnost VOLI really struggled for most of the game. And when they came 10 points behind Borac – 69:59, with just 6 minutes left to be played, it looked like that the Podgorica side will leave Čačak empty-handed.
But, then Edin Atić scored a very tough 3-point shot to start the incredible 16:0 run of the visiting side. Atić scored 8 out of those 16 points, Dennis Jerome Seeley made 4, while Marko Jagodić Kuridža and Donatas Tarolis scored 2 points each. On the other side, Borac simply could not score any points in those moments.
After completing that 16:0 run and taking over the lead – 75:69, Budućnost VOLI scored their free throws in the final moments of the game to stay in front and win the match.
Man of the match: Edin Atić and Dennis Jerome Seeley played key roles in the 4th quarter and two of them deserve to share this award. Atić finished the match with 12 points and 7 rebounds, while Seeley was the top scorer in the winning team with 20 points.
Can’t trick the stats: Budućnost VOLI used their big guys to dominate the paint, so they made 44 rebounds this evening, 10 more than Borac.
