Zadar are entering the new season with almost a completely new team that will try to help the club achieve some better results than in the previous two seasons.

Two years ago Zadar finished the regular season at the 10th place, while last season they ended up at the 12th position. That’s too close to the relegation zone and too far away from the place where Zadar fans would like to see their club in the regional league.

That is why the 2003 regional champions have decided to make numerous changes over the past summer, starting with head coach. Zadar appointed Danijel Jusup as new head coach and this will be his 6th time to lead his hometown club. Recall that Jusup was the head coach of Zadar back in 2003 when this club won their first and only ABA League title.

After hiring Jusup, the club started forming the roster for the 2022/23 campaign and they had a lot of gaps to fill in as the team parted ways with almost the entire squad from the previous season. The only 4 players who remained in the team are Dario Drežnjak, Antonio Jordano and two 19-year-old players Krševan Klarica and Antonio Sikirić.

Zadar have therefore made 7 signings over the summer and all of the newcomers have already played in this region before.

Probably the biggest name that arrived in the club was Luka Božić who will therefore start his 2nd stint with the white-and-blues. Recall that Božić played for Zadar from 2017 to 2019 and during that period he was one of the best players of the team. He spent the last season in Široki.

One more player has returned to Zadar and that is Marko Ramljak who spent most of his pro career playing at Višnjik. Ramljak, who played the last season in Zrinjski, was part of Zadar’s first team from 2010 to 2016.

Zadar also penned deals with two players of their local rivals Split – Sani Čampara and Karlo Žganec as well as with former player of Helios Suns Leon Šantelj and former member of Spars Arijan Lakić. The club’s final signing this summer was Juan Davis who helped MZT Skopje Aerodrom win the promotion to AdmiralBet ABA League last season.

On top of that, Zadar have also promoted several players from their youth section to their first team .

This new Zadar squad looks quite interesting and we are eagerly anticipating to watch them in action already on Friday evening when they will host SC Derby in season opener.
