The green-and-whites have returned to the top-tier of the regional basketball and they want to remain there at the end of the season.

Krka have won the last-year’s NLB ABA League 2 in the most dramatic fashion as they prevailed over Helios Suns in one of the most thrilling finals ever played in that competition. And, with a ticket for the AdmiralBet ABA League in their pockets, the Novo mesto side has started creating the team for the 2023/24 campaign.

Of course, Krka’s management has decided to keep head coach Gašpern Okorn who helped the team win the promotion to AdmiralBet ABA League. Okorn did an amazing job with the Novo mesto squad over the past year and there was absolutely no doubt who will coach the team in the 2023/24 season.

Okorn will have most of the last-season roster in the 2023/24 squad. Leon Stergar, Miha Cerkvenik, Robert Jurković, Jan Špan, Miha Škedelj and Jurij Macura have all remained in the team and will play for Krka in the upcoming season.

As far as the newcomers are concerned, Krka have so far acquired 5 of them. Niko Bačvić came from Helios Suns, Marko Radovanović arrived from Cedevita Olimpija, while the other three are Americans - Jairus Hamilton (Western Kentucky University), Isaiah Cousins (Hapoel Haifa) and Zena Edosomwan (Helsinki Seagulls).

This new group of players still need time to get used to each other, but we have to say that Krka looked quite decent in the preseason in which they scored 4 wins and suffered 5 defeats.

Of course, it won’t be easy to replace guys like Rok Stipčević who decided to finish his playing career after leading Krka back to AdmiralBet ABA League, yet we will dare to say that this new squad will be getting better day by day.

So do not get surprised if Krka manage to beat some of the league favorites in Leon Štukelj Hall, like they did in almost every season in which they participated in the top-tier division.
