Vojvodina mts pull off a major comeback to win the overtime thriller vs. Kansai Helios

Vojvodina mts have pulled off a miraculous comeback to beat Kansai Helios in overtime in Round 4 of the 2023/24 NLB ABA League 2 regular season.

It is really hard to explain how the Novi Sad troops have managed to win this match, considering that they were down by 4 points – 75:71, with 20 seconds left on the game clock, and on top of that Kansai Helios had the ball possession.

However, then Kansai Helios best player in today’s match Blaž Mahkovic made a huge mistake. He saw a clear path toward the basket and went for a dunk, however Vojvodina mts player Uroš Banjac arrived just in time in front of the basket and Mahkovic made an offensive foul.

On the other side of the court Vojvodina mts hero from this evening Petar Rakićević scored an easy lay up to reduce the gap to two points – 75:73, while Vojvodina mts team then made a quick foul on Mahkovic to send him to the free throw line.

Mahkovic made just one out of two free throws – 76:73, which gave Vojvodina mts an unexpected cnance to take this game into overtime. And, after a time out, Rakićević received the ball some 9 meters away from the basket, but he still pulled up for a 3-pointer and he made the shot – 76:76!

In overtime, Vojvodina mts used the good momentum to gain a 6-point lead and eventually to seize the big win.
