Story of the game: In this week's NLB Match of the Round, Partizan Mozzart Bet will host Budućnost VOLI in Štark Arena on Saturday evening.
You all know the game is going to be big when we say the names of these two regional giants. Partizan Mozzart Bet are the reigning champions of the Admiralbet ABA League and the team who’s been scoring some great results recently, both in the regional league and in the European competitions.
The black-and-whites are on a 3-win streak in the AdmiralBet ABA League and on a 4-win streak in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and they do not plan to stop there as every win is precious in this exciting season.
On the other side, Budućnost VOLI reached the semi-finals of the last year’s AdmiralBet ABA League campaign, while in this season they will try to get at least one step further. The Podgorica side won the last two games in the regional league and they now hope that they may stun the Belgrade powerhouse and therefore keep pursuing the top place on the standings.
What is interesting to mention is that Partizan Mozzart Bet and Budućnost VOLI currently share the 3rd spot on the standings, alongside Cedevita Olimpija, with the overall score of 8-3.
Therefore, whoever wins the upcoming match will make a big step forward in the race for the 1st place in the regular season.
Match-up in focus: Since he recovered from injury, Kevin Punter is playing really well and he is once again the true leader of this black-and-white team. Last Thursday, Punter scored 22 points to lead Partizan Mozzart Bet toward a huge road win against Zalgiris Kaunas in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
Meanwhile, Budućnost VOLI relies a lot on their starting point guard McKinley Wright IV who is the team’s top scorer in the ongoing AdmiralBet ABA League season. Wright IV is averaging 13.3 points per game and he is definitely the main offensive power of the Podgorica side.
