Coach of the Season 2024/25: Andrej Žakelj
In the traditional voting by the AdmiralBet ABA League head coaches, journalists and basketball fans, Budućnost VOLI head coach Andrej Žakelj has been selected the Coach of the 2024/25 AdmiralBet ABA League season.
Andrej Žakelj, Budućnost VOLI head coach, that has taken over the Morača squad midway through the 2023/24 season and has been at the helm of the Podgorica side for the second season in a row, has been selected the best coach of the 2024/25 season in the traditional AdmiralBet ABA League voting by the head coaches of AdmiralBet ABA League teams, basketball journalists and the basketball fans!
The tactician, that has previously claimed the ABA Super Cup trophy with SC Derby in 2023/24 season, has convincingly taken the first place in the voting, winning the total of 84.9% of combined votes. He has been followed by Igokea m:tel head coach Nenad Stefanović, who has taken the second place, with a total of 6.4% combined votes, while Cedevita Olimpija head coach Zvezdan Mitrović took the third place with 5.2% of the combined votes.
It is worth mentioning, that Žakelj has taken the first place in all three voting groups - head coaches of AdmiralBet ABA League teams, journalists, and the basketball fans, which makes his achievement even more impressive.
Andrej Žakelj has had an amazing journey with Budućnost VOLI this season, leading the team to excellent score of 1st place in the Regular Season, in which they have also prevailed over all of the other AdmiralBet ABA League powerhouses. This is also the best Regular Season position for the Montenegrin side since the 2015/16 season, when they have also claimed the top of the standings at the end of the Regular Season as well and the second such achievement of the Podgorica side in entire history.
In the traditional AdmiralBet ABA League voting for the Ideal Starting Five of the AdmiralBet ABA League season and the individual honours, the final results of the voting combines the votes of the head coaches of AdmiralBet ABA League teams (85% of the total voting results), the votes of fans (5% of the total voting results) and the votes of basketball journalists from the ABA League j.t.d. countries (10% of the total voting results).
