Game recap: Budućnost VOLI are through to the AdmiralBet ABA League semi-finals after pulling off a hard-fought 92:87 win on the road against Mega Superbet in Game 2 of the quarter-final series. With this victory, the Podgorica powerhouse clinched the series by 2-0 and will now face their long-time rivals and reigning champions Crvena zvezda Meridianbet in the next stage.
After a balanced opening, Budućnost VOLI gradually imposed control in the 2nd quarter and went to halftime with a comfortable 11-point lead – 49:38. However, the young and fearless Mega Superbet side refused to back down. They stormed out of the locker room and took over the third quarter with a stunning 31:15 run to completely flip the script and enter the final period with a 5-point advantage – 69:64.
What followed was a thrilling final quarter, packed with intensity and momentum shifts. The two teams were neck and neck until the final two minutes, entering the clutch phase tied at 84:84. But in the decisive stretch, Budućnost VOLI showed the maturity and poise that comes with experience.
Key moments: With the score tied at 84:84 and just under two minutes left, Budućnost VOLI delivered a game-winning 7:0 run. It all started with Yogi Ferrell, who drove to the rim for a tough and-1 lay-up and calmly knocked down the free throw to make it 87:84. Then, Juwan Morgan hit a 2-pointer right at the shot clock buzzer – 89:84. To seal it, Rasheed Sulaimon hit a dagger 2-pointer that extended the lead to 91:84, ultimately closing out Mega’s resistance.
Man of the match: Rasheed Sulaimon rose to the occasion when it mattered most. The American guard was calm under pressure, hitting key shots in crunch time and leading his team with 20 points and an index rating of 20.
