Budućnost VOLI has made a strong opening move in the summer transfer market, announcing the signing of talented Ukrainian point guard Oleksandr Kovliar. The 23-year-old playmaker joins the Montenegrin powerhouse on a two-year deal.
Kovliar arrives from the Lithuanian side of Lietkabelis, where he emerged as a key contributor under head coach Nenad Čanak. Last season, he averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.1 steals across all competitions.
His standout performance came in a thrilling EuroCup road win over Spanish giants Valencia, where Kovliar erupted for 25 points and dished out five assists in a memorable 107–106 victory.
A product of the Ukrainian club Khimik, where he began his professional career, Kovliar’s journey has taken him through Estonia (Tartu Ülikool and BC Kalev), Spain (Obradoiro), and, most recently, Lithuania. Notably, during his time with Kalev, he helped the team reach the semifinals of the FIBA Europe Cup.
