Sukhmail Mathon is the new Krka player

“I am looking forward to coming to Novo mesto and playing for Krka. I am bringing lots of energy and the desire to help the team reach the set goals,” the newcomer in the club told as he agreed on cooperation with the Novo mesto squad.

The 208 cm tall Sukhmail Mathon has started his sporting career in the USA. Between 2017 and 2022 he successfully played for the Boston University. In the five seasons he collected 151 appearances and in the last season at the college level, he made it into the top ten rebounders in the NCAA with 10.2 rebounds grabbed per contest.

Since 2022 he has been playing in Europe. He started his European career in the Netherlands (Landstede Hammers) and afterwards moved to Czech Republic (NH Ostrava and ERA Nymburk) and at last Lithuania (M Basket Mažeikiai and Juventus Utena). Last season he has appeared in 13 games for Utena in the Lithuanian National Championship, averaging 10.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

Sukhmail Mathon je novi član Krke

Člansko ekipo Krke je okrepil 27-letni ameriški center Sukhmail Mathon.

"Veselim se prihoda v Novo mesto in igranja v dresu Krke. S seboj prinašam veliko energije in željo, da pomagam ekipi do zastavljenih ciljev," je ob podpisu pogodbe dejal novinec v klubu.

208 centimetrov visoki Mathon je svojo košarkarsko pot začel v ZDA. Sprva je bil kapetan ekipe na srednji šoli, med letoma 2017 in 2022 pa je uspešno igral in študiral na bostonski univerzi. V petih sezonah je zbral 151 nastopov, v zadnji sezoni pa je z 10,2 skoka na tekmo sodil med deset najboljših skakalcev v ligi NCAA.

Od leta 2022 nastopa v Evropi. Kariero je začel na Nizozemskem (Landstede Hammers), nato pa igral še na Češkem (NH Ostrava in ERA Nymburk) in v Litvi (M Basket Mažeikiai ter Juventus Utena). V lanski sezoni je za Uteno v litovskem državnem prvenstvu odigral 13 tekem ter v povprečju dosegal 10,9 točke, 5,7 skoka in 2,2 asistenci na tekmo.
