The last round of the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket group stage turned out to be a bitter one for Serbia and Montenegro, as both teams suffered defeats with very different consequences.

Serbia experienced their first setback of the tournament after falling to Türkiye 90:95 in what was arguably one of the best games of the EuroBasket so far. Despite holding an 88:84 lead with four minutes left on the clock, Serbia were unable to close the game. Türkiye responded with a decisive 11:2 run in the final stretch, flipping the scoreline in their favor and handing Serbia their first loss.

With this result, Serbia finish second in Group A. Their next challenge awaits in the Round of 16, where they will face Finland in a knockout clash.

For Montenegro, the day brought heartbreak. In what was supposed to be their ticket to the 1/8 finals, Montenegro instead fell 83:89 to Great Britain, a team that had been winless until this matchup.

Montenegro needed only a victory to secure progression to the next round, but the upset loss means their EuroBasket journey ends earlier than expected. The team’s inability to capitalize on the opportunity will sting, especially given the quality of performances they showed earlier in the group stage.
