Budućnost VOLI enters the 2025/26 AdmiralBet ABA League season as the reigning vice-champions.

Budućnost VOLI enters the 2025/26 AdmiralBet ABA League season as the reigning vice-champions. Last year, the Podgorica side put on an impressive campaign — finishing 1st in the regular season and reaching the Finals, where they ultimately fell to Partizan Mozzart Bet despite a strong fight.

At the helm remains Andrej Žakelj, who has earned high praise for leading the team to consistent success. Now beginning his third season as head coach, Žakelj continues to be the foundation of Budućnost VOLI’s ambitious project.

Backcourt: A New Dynamic

While Budućnost VOLI lost two of their stars — MVP McKinley Wright IV and center Kenan Kamenjaš, both now in Dubai - the club has acted swiftly to rebuild.

Yogi Ferrell has extended his stay, bringing scoring and leadership at point guard.

The biggest signing might be Skylar Mays, former NBA guard, who could emerge as the team’s new star.

Oleksandr Kovliar joins from Lietkabelis to add depth, while last season’s key contributors Rasheed Sulaimon and Fletcher Magee remain in place.

Together, this group forms a firestorm of creativity and firepower in the guard positions.

Wings & Forwards: Balance of Youth and Experience

On the wing and forward spots, Budućnost VOLI relies on familiar faces but also welcomes international quality:

Đorđije Jovanović and Andrija Slavković (SF) return.

Nikola Tanasković and Juwan Morgan (PF) bring size and hustle.

The key addition is Axel Bouteille, the French international known for his consistency and reliability - a valuable piece for Žakelj’s system.

Centers: A Fresh Start Inside

With Kamenjaš and Omić gone, Budućnost VOLI rebuilt its frontline with two fresh signings:

Jerry Boutsiele – a proven presence in European competitions.

James Thompson – athletic and eager to make his mark.

This brand-new duo will be vital in establishing control in the paint.

Goals for 2025/26

The ambitions in Podgorica remain sky-high: to return the AdmiralBet ABA League trophy to Budućnost VOLI for the first time since 2018. With Žakelj’s leadership, a reinforced roster, and a passionate fan base, Budućnost VOLI will once again be among the top contenders.
