Game recap: In the opening game of the AdmiralBet ABA League Regular Season Round 5, SC Derby have prevailed over Krka at home in their Morača Sports Hall in Podgorica. In a game, where they have been the better of two sides for the big majority of the playing time, SC Derby have edged out Krka at home and this way achieved their second win in five games played, that keeps them in a favourable position of the Top 8 race. On the other side, Krka keep waiting for their first win of the season, as they haven’t tasted the sweetness of a win so far in this AdmiralBet ABA League campaign.
Key moments: After a tied first quarter (19:19), SC Derby have made the key margin in the second one. And they did it right at the start. They converted their 19:21 deficit from the 11th minute of the game into a 28:21 lead in the 14th minute with a 9:0 run and later, by the 16th minute of the game, managed to obtain their first double-digit lead of the game (34:24). Just when it seemed like this could be the key moments of the game, as SC Derby were still up by 11 points at halftime, Krka bounced back in the third quarter and little-by-little started to cut the gap between the two squads, eventually turning the game completely upside-down by the end of the third, when they were ahead by 2 points (59:61).
Krka’s lead did not last for long, though, as the hosts opened the last quarter with an 16:0 run, to get up by 14 points (75:61) with 7 minutes to go in the game. As it turned out later in the game, Krka did not manage to reply properly again until the very end and SC Derby celebrated their second win of the season.
Man of the match: Aleksa Ilić has been the key driving force behind the win of SC Derby, as he led his team to the triumph with 12 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 3 blocks and a valuation of 23 on his record. He is our man of the match!
Can’t trick the stats: SC Derby have dominated the paint, as they had 35 rebounds and Krka only 24. That’s what turned the flow of the game their way.
