Split are Back on the Winning Track After an Overtime win over Igokea m:tel
In one of the two opening games of the AdmiralBet ABA League Round 10, Split have prevailed over Igokea m:tel at home in Split Sports Hall.

Game recap: In one of the two opening games of the AdmiralBet ABA League Round 10, Split have prevailed over Igokea m:tel at home in Split Sports Hall. This way, Split have bounced back after two straight defeats with a home win and will escape the very bottom of the Group A standings, as they will be on a 3:6 record after 9 games played. On the other side, Igokea m:tel are now in a 3 games long winless streak and on a 4:4 record after 8 games played, midway through the Regular Season.
Key moments: The visiting side have started the game in a fairly better fashion than the hosts. They went on an 11:0 run between 4th and 7th minute of the game, that put them up by 12 points (8:20). As it turned out, Split managed to return into the game for the win and thanks to their 8:0 run between 34th and 38th minute escaped Igokea m:tel by 8 points (75:67). It seemed like the game was going their way, as the hosts entered the final minute with a 7-point lead (78:71), but Javon Bess scored 8 points, while Boriša Simanić added 2 in the final minute alone to lead the game into overtime (81:81).
After 3 back-to-back three-pointers by Zoran Dragić in the opening 3 minutes of the overtime, Split were again ahead by 7 points with less than 3 minutes remaining in overtime (90:83). Igosi (Rorie and Simanić) replied with 2 three-pointers within a minute and it has been a 1-point game once more (90:89). Igokea m:tel opened the final minute of overtime with a bucket by Đorđe Topolović for a 1-point lead (92:93), but that’s when Noa Svoboda stepped up for Split. First he has drawn a foul to score 2 free-throws to pull his team in a 94:93 lead, only to score a step-back three-pointer on the other end, to give his team a 4-point lead with 16 seconds to go in the extra time (97:93). Zoran Dragić set the final score with another free throw afterwards and Split squad celebrated together with their home crowd.
Man of the match: Even though he has not been the top scorer for Split, Zoran Dragić’s contribution might be crucial for the win of Split. He scored 16 points (3/7 for 3), including 10 out of 17 points of his team in overtime thanks to three consecutive three-pointers, while adding 5 assists, 3 rebounds and a valuation of 17. He is our man of the match!
Can’t trick the stats: Split had 38 rebounds and Igokea m:tel 35. That’s what handed them the win in the end.
