Bosna BH Telecom suffered a 66:81 defeat against Falco Vulcano Energia KC Szombathely on the road in the 1st leg of the 2025/26 FIBA Europe Cup quarter-finals. The Sarajevo side will now need to win the return leg at home by 16 or more points in order to qualify for the next phase of the competition.

What makes the defeat even more painful for Bosna is the fact that they were actually on the verge of gaining a significant advantage already in the first game. The visitors played an excellent first half and entered the halftime break with a 9-point lead, looking fully in control of the match.

However, the second half turned into a nightmare for the Sarajevo squad. Falco Vulcano Energia KC Szombathely completely shifted the momentum after the break, winning both the 3rd and the 4th quarter by identical 22:10 scores, gradually erasing Bosna’s advantage and then building a gap of their own.

Despite the difficult stretch, Bosna still managed to stay in the game for most of the final quarter. In fact, four minutes before the end the visitors were trailing by just two points - 64:66 - keeping the possibility of a positive result alive.

But the closing moments belonged entirely to the Hungarian side. Falco produced a decisive 15:2 run in the final minutes, turning a tight contest into a convincing victory and creating a 15-point cushion ahead of the return leg.

Bosna BH Telecom will now try to turn the tie around in front of their fans when the second leg is played in Sarajevo on March 18, where the Students will need a win by at least 16 points to advance to the FIBA Europe Cup semi-finals.
