Croatia to face Serbia in the quarterfinals

Croatia defeated Lithuania in the final round of the group stage and seized the 1st place in Group B. It means that Croatia and Serbia will face each other in the quarterfinals of the Rio 2016 men's basketball tournament.

The situation for Croatia before the last match of the group stage was quite clear. They have already qualified for the knockout stage at the Rio men's basketball tournament, while they had two possible opponents in the quarterfinals - USA and Serbia.

If they had lost the match against Lithuania, the squad coached by Aco Petrović would have faced the Americans, while the win would have brought them a big derby against Serbia.

The game started much better for Lithuania, who was in front after the opening 10 minutes by 21:13. However, the 2nd quarter changed absolutely everything. Croatia won that period by 34:20! They were scoring from all positions, but most importantly they did not stop at the halftime.

Immediately after the second half begun, Bogdanović, šarić and Co. continued their outstanding offensive display, while the margin kept growing and growing. At the end of the 3rd quarter, Croatia were up ahead vs. Lithuania by 75:55!

It was clear at that point that the quarterfinals will bring the clash of two teams from this region. Croatia vs. Serbia.
