Maiden Champions League wins for Mornar and Partizan NIS

Mornar and Partizan NIS have achieved victories in the opening round of Basketball Champions League, by overcoming Telenet Oostende and MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, respectively.

Mornar and Partizan NIS have achieved victories in the opening round of Basketball Champions League, by overcoming Telenet Oostende and MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, respectively.

Mornar achieved their maiden Basketball Champions League and they have done it at their debut – by beating Telenet Oostende at home in Topolica Sports Hall, Bar. They have reached the final 74:72 win thanks to excellent second half performance (they have won the second part of the game by 11 points), with which they have turned the game around in their favour. Antabia Waller was the top scorer of Mornar with 17 points, while Octavious Ellis added 16.

Partizan NIS have beaten MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg on the road in Germany thanks to Stefan Birčević, who scored a layup in the final second and gave his team a 65:64 win. The game-winning hero Birčević was also the top scorer of the game with 15 points and he was followed at Partizan NIS' side by William Hatcher, who put in 11.

A day before, Cibona and Mega Leks were both defeated at their Basketball Champions League debuts. In Zagreb, Cibona were outplayed by Iberostar Tenerife, while Mega Leks were outscored by Sidigas Avellino in Sremska Mitrovica.
