Game recap: Budućnost VOLI hold firmly to their Playoffs spot, that they have gained throughout the season and they did another step towards clinching a ticket for the final top four by winning on the road in Leon Štukelj Hall, Novo mesto against Krka. The home side, that thae played without their injured point guard Matic Rebec, have not found the cure yet for their crisis of results that now lasts for eight rounds without a single win in the ABA League.
Key moments: When the last quarter has begun, it has still been anybody’s game in Novo mesto, as Krka were in front by a point in the 30th minute (55:54). However, that’s when Ilias Zouros’ side have increased their gear and with a 10:1 run over the next five minutes, they have turned the game around in their favour and pulled away to the 64:56 lead. Krka never managed to recover from this blow until the end.
Man of the match: The last reinforcement of Budućnost VOLI Owen Klassen has proven himself to be worthy of the blue and white jersey, as he steered the guests towards the win in Leon Štukelj Hall with a double double (17 points and 10 rebounds), adding 1 assist, steal and block each for a total game high valuation of 26! His team have created themselves no less than 23 points of advantage during the 29 minutes that he spent on court in this 8-point win and of course he is our man of the match.
Can't trick the stats: Excellent defense by Budućnost VOLI is what mattered this time around and pushed them towards the triumph. The guests have forced the home side to shoot only 28% from the field and prevailed in the end thanks to that.
