ABA League hand in hand with Special Olympics

We are proud to announce the beginning of the cooperation between the ABA League and the Special Olympics, which will commence with the 2016/17 ABA League Finals.

With a goal of strengthening the position and integration of persons with intellectual disabilities within the society, the ABA League and its clubs are happy to announce their support for the organization of Special Olympics, as the cooperation will begin during the Finals of the 2016/17 season.

The members of the Special Olympics will be the guests and will take part in the programme of the 1st and 3rd games of the ABA League Finals, which will take place in Belgrade and Zagreb.

Besides the presentation of our dear guests before the beginning of the two games, the fans will watch their skills challenge during the half time breaks of the aforementioned games.

Special Olympics was established in 1968 in the USA as a programme, promoting sporting activities in different Olympics’ sports for the persons with intellectual disabilities. Since then more than 150 countries of the World have joined the programme, today connecting more than 4 million athletes. Through its programmes, the Special Olympics is striving towards benefiting the healthy development of individuals and their integration in the society in the long term.

We are convinced that this is the beginning of a long-term and beautiful cooperation between the ABA League and the Special Olympics, which will help the children and adults with intellectual disabilities to integrate into the community in an easier way.
