MZT have taken the lead in the Macedonian Championship Finals

MZT Skopje Aerodrom defeated Karpoš Sokoli at home court in Game 1 of the 2016/17 Macedonian Championship Finals.

It was really intense at the start of the 2016/17 Macedonian Championship Finals. MZT Skopje Aerodrom prevailed over Karpoš Sokoli at home court, but only after the visitors missed the crucial shot in the final seconds of the match.

Karpoš Sokoli point guard Dominik Mavra pulled up for a 3-pointer, but he missed the shot and MZT Skopje Aerodrom won the game by 77:76.

The home side was down by 8 points before the start of the 4th quarter – 53:61, however they opened the last period by making 16:2 run and taking the lead – 69:63. MZT Skopje Aerodrom had a 9-point lead on 90 seconds before the end – 76:67, but then Karpoš Sokoli performed a miraculous comeback by scoring 3 consecutive three-pointers and the score was all tied – 76:76.

MZT Skopje Aerodrom had the ball-possesion and Xavier Thames got fauled on 18 seconds before the end. He made 1 out of 2 free throws and MZT Skopje Aerodrom were once again in front – 77:76. That turned out to be the final score, as Dominik Mavra missed that 3-pointer on the other end of the court.
