ABA League Round 18, Saturday, 27.1.2018:
PETROL OLIMPIJA – Cedevita 65:64 (18:8, 18:13, 9:23, 20:20)
Game recap: Petrol Olimpija have ended their winless streak, which lasted for 7 games in the ABA League by coming up with a huge upset and a victory against Cedevita at home court in Tivoli Sports Hall, Ljubljana. For the green and white this is the sixth win of the season and a valuable one in their battle to avoid the danger zone at the bottom. On the other side, for Cedevita this is a huge blow in their battle to reach the top two spots in the standings which would guarantee them home court advantage in the Semi-finals in case they qualify for the Playoffs.
Key moments: The game was decided no earlier than in the final seconds, as the teams were close throughout the fourth quarter. After a series of free throws on both ends, the hosts got the 65:64 advantage. Roko Leni Ukić had less than 4 seconds of time to try to turn things around on the final ball possession, but he missed his 3-point attempt.
Man of the match: Gregor Hrovat was the man for Petrol Olimpija this time! He (together with Talor Battle) led the way in scoring for the Dragons with 12 points, while adding 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals to his stats. He is our man of the match!
Can’t trick the stats: This has not been Petrol Olimpija’s most dangerous weapon this season, but tonight they have shined in rebounding! They have outrebounded Cedevita 34:26 and this is what helped them a lot in achieving this win.
