EUROLEAGUE: Zvezda began with a win, brave resistance by Cedevita

Cedevita and Crvena zvezda Telekom opened their Euroleague season with mixed outcomes, but both of them left a good impression. Zvezda beat SIG Strasbourg, while Cedevita resisted Olympiacos bravely.

Crvena zvezda Telekom demonstrated total domination at the Euroleague opening at their home court of Kombank Arena against SIG Strasbourg. The red and white pulled away with a 15:2 run midway through the second quarter and not only held on to the lead until the end of the game, but even increased it until the final result of 81:59.

With 18 points, Maik Zirbes was the top scorer of his team, while captain Luka Mitrović contributed 13 for the winning side.

Cedevita offered brave resistance to the current Euroleague runners up Olympiacos on the road in Crete, where the game was played. The Zagreb ABA League side was 48:46 up midway through the third quarter, but then a 14:0 run followed by the Greeks which came out victorious. The final result was 76:61.

For Cedevita, Jacob Pullen led the way in scoring with 18 points and Tomislav Zubčić followed him with 16.
