A bad day for national teams…

At the start of the Second Round of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, Slovenia, Montenegro & Croatia suffered defeats.

Slovenia was defeated by Latvia on the road and now the reigning European champions are not in a really good position as far as the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers are concerned. Slovenia is currently the last placed team in Group I and only the top 3 teams will advance to the World Cup.

We are still in Group I where Montenegro suffered a road defeat against Turkey and therefore faced quite a setback in the race for the World Cup. Montenegro are one position above Slovenia on the standings, but with 2 wins less than Turkey and Latvia who are currently holding the last World Cup tickets in Group I.

Croatia got defeated by Lithuania at home court and, as you can see by the final score, it was a pretty painful defeat. It’s even more painful because Croatia is now not among the top 3 teams in Group J, but there is still enough time for them to reach the World Cup.
