Game recap: Budućnost VOLI showed that they have kept that winning mentality from the last season after defeating Igokea in the quarterfinals of 2018 ABA Super Cup. The reigning ABA League champions were down by 10 points at one moment, but they made a big comeback in the second half and stayed in the race for the 1st trophy in the new season. Budućnost VOLI will face Partizan NIS in the semifinals of the 2018 ABA Super Cup.
On the other side, despite losing the game, Igokea can be proud on their performance and it is quite clear now that this team will play an important role in the 2018/19 ABA League journey.
Key moments: After taking over the lead in the last quarter, Budućnost VOLI still had to make quite an effort to stay in front of their rivals in the final moments. Igokea reduced the gap to just 2 points – 88:86, with 25 seconds left on the game clock, but then the MVP of last season’s ABA Playoffs Nemanja Gordić scored two crucial free throws and made the final score – 90:86.
Man of the match: Nemanja Gordić! He is obviously born to be the best in the most important games. This evening he was top scorer in his team with 19 points, he also had 6 assists and he made those two key free throws at the end.
Can’t trick the stats: It is hard to tell what made difference in this match. The two teams were so close, but at the end Budućnost VOLI had more concentration and made some very important shots.
