Conclusions of the ABA League j.t.d. Assembly

ABA League j.t.d. Assembly, that has taken place remotely on 29 June 2020, has made a series of decisions with a goal of further strengthening and development of the competition.

The ABA League j.t.d. Assembly has decided that both ABA League and ABA League 2 will be composed of 14 clubs until the 2024/25 season.

According to the decision of the Assembly, the ABA League will begin on 19 September 2020 in the 2020/21 season. The Regular Season will take place until 28 March 2021, while the Playoffs are set to begin on 4 April 2021.

In accordance with the confirmed competition system, the last placed team of the ABA League will not have a right to participate in this level of the competition in the following season, while the 13-placed team of the ABA League and the Finalist of the ABA League 2 will face each other in the ABA League Qualifiers.

Given that the presence and development of the COVID-19 virus still brings us several restrictive factors, the ABA League j.t.d. Assembly has decided to cancel the 2020/21 ABA Super Cup.

Based on the results in the national championships, the members of the ABA League 2 in the 2020/21 season will be Gorica, Helios Suns, Lovćen 1947, MZT Skopje Aerodrom, Rabotnički, Sloboda Užice, Spars Realway, Sutjeska, Široki and Zlatibor.

At the same time, the ABA League j.t.d. Assembly has adopted the criteria for filling the additional spots in the ABA League 2 and based on them, Mladost Zemun, Studentski centar, Sloboda Tuzla and Podgorica have received the wild cards.

ABA League 2 2020/21 season will begin on 23 September 2020. The Regular Season will take place until 7 April 2021, while the Playoffs are set to begin on 14 April 2021.

ABA League and its clubs will continue to monitor the development of the situation regarding Covid-19 and will remain in constant contact with the state and health organizations in order to coordinate its further steps in accordance with the possible restrictions.
