Danijel Jusup becomes the new head coach of Zadar
Danijel Jusup has returned to his hometown to coach Zadar’s 1st team once again!

It is official! Zadar announced that they appointed Danijel Jusup as their new head coach.
Jusup has therefore returned to his hometown to once again lead his beloved team, while it is worth mentioning that this will be his 6th stint with the white-and-blues.
Danijel Jusup started his coaching career in Zadar, back in 1992. He stayed in the club for just one season (1992/93) during his 1st stint, but he returned to his hometown soon afterwards and he coached Zadar’s first team once again from 1996 to 1999.
Jusup’s 3rd stint in Zadar was the most successful one. He came back to the club for the 2002/03 season and he led the team toward winning the 2003 ABA League championship. That remains one and only ABA League title that Zadar have won so far.
After that, Danijel Jusup has returned to Zadar two more times for a single season. He led the team in the 2010/11 season and then in the 2019/20 season, while now he is ready for his 6th stint with the white-and-blue squad.
Apart from winning the 2003 ABA League championship, Jusup has also won three Croatian National Cups with Zadar (1998, 2003, 2020).
In the previous season, Jusup was the head coach of NLB ABA League 2 side Široki with whom he reached the semi-finals of the 2022 NLB ABA League 2 Playoffs.

Jusup po šesti put trener Zadra
Danijel Jusup po šesti put sjesti će na klupu Zadra kao glavni trener. Danijel je prošle sezone vodio ekipu Širokog do polufinala NLB ABA 2 Lige, u kojem su njegovi momci poraženi od ekipe MZT Skopje. Što se tiče Lige za prvaka Prvenstva BiH završili su kao druga ekipa s tek bodom manje od Igokee m:tel, a u finalu Kupa Mirze Delibašić Igokea je opet bila bolja od ekipe Širokog.
Popularni ‘Jupe’ u Zadru je osvojio ABA ligu (o.a. 2003 Goodyear liga), te svima nam posebno drag Kup Krešimira Ćosića čak tri puta (1998, 2003, 2020). Od individualnih nagrada dva puta je proglašen za najboljeg trenera u Hrvatskoj, 1998. i 2003. godine.
Jusup je u fazi u kojoj se Klub trenutno nalazi idealno rješenje s obzirom na to da je njegova ideja postepena gradnja konkurentnog Kluba sastavlienog od igrača iz omladinskog pogona, a to je i ideja samoga Kluba. Denis Pleslić, sportski direktor Zadra o dolasku Jusupa rekao je: ‘S obzirom na situaciju u kojoj se Klub nalazi, odlučili smo se na potpisivanje trenera koji je najpogodniie rješenje da kroz dulji vremenski period izgradimo sustav koji će biti prvenstveno konkurentan u rezultatskom smislu, a s time i stabilan uz proizvodnju igrača iz vlastitog omladinskog pogona.’
