2024/25 AdmiralBet ABA League Quarterfinals Round 1, Sunday, 11 May 2025:
BUDUĆNOST VOLI - Mega Superbet 96:80 (29:18, 23:16, 24:28, 20:18)
Game recap: Budućnost VOLI successfully defended their home court in Game 1 of the 2025 AdmiralBet ABA League quarter-finals, defeating Mega Superbet by 96:80 and taking a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Despite missing their regular season MVP McKinley Wright IV, the Podgorica side came out with strong intent and took control of the game from the very first minute.
The blue-and-whites opened the clash with an energetic 12:0 run in the first three minutes, instantly setting the tone for the rest of the night. Their explosive start paved the way for a commanding 29:18 lead at the end of the opening quarter. Even though Mega Superbet tried to respond, Budućnost VOLI kept their foot on the gas, maintaining a double-digit lead for most of the game.
It should also be mentioned that each side played without their key players today as the 2024/25 regular season MVP McKinley Wright IV missed the match for Budućnost VOLI, while on the other side 2024/25 regular season Top Prospect Bogoljub Marković did not play for Mega Superbet.
Key moments: Mega Superbet's only real spark came midway through the 3rd quarter. They managed to reduce the deficit to just 8 points (59:51), putting some pressure on the hosts. However, that brief comeback attempt was immediately shut down by Yogi Ferrell, who stepped up in MVP fashion. The experienced guard knocked down two three-pointers and added another bucket to score 8 consecutive points, restoring a comfortable cushion and regaining full momentum for Budućnost VOLI.
From that moment on, the home team controlled the pace and safely closed out the match, never allowing Mega Superbet to get back into striking range.
Man of the match: No McKinley Wright IV, no problem. Yogi Ferrell took over the game when it mattered the most and led Budućnost VOLI to a vital win. He finished the match with 20 points, 7 assists, and several clutch plays that deflated Mega’s comeback hopes. His third-quarter scoring burst was the turning point of the game and cemented his role as the hero of the night.
Can’t trick the stats: On top of having more rebounds (33:27) and assists (23:17) than Mega Superbet, Budućnost VOLI dominated the game with their outstanding 2-point shooting. The Podgorica side went 28/45 from inside the arc, not only posting a strong 62% accuracy but also making 10 more two-pointers than their rivals — a decisive factor in building and maintaining their lead throughout the match.
