The graph above places each team logo based on how far above or below the ABA League average they are in offensive and defensive points per possession. It gives an overview of which teams have stood out the most early on. A few things stand out about this graph.

- Every team in the ABA League has played at an above average level on at least one end of the floor which should make for a very competitive middle of the pack in the standings as the season continues.

- Defense has been what has separated the ABA League elite teams early on. The most and least efficient offensive teams are separated by only 0.22 points per possession, but the most and least efficient defensive teams are separated by 0.27 points per possession. The four most efficient defensive teams are the only four teams with a positive point differential in the current standings and all fall within 0.02 points per possession of one another…

- Crvena zvezda mts is currently the only team that ranks in the top-3 of both offensive and defensive efficiency. They have separated themselves from the rest of the elite teams with their play on the offensive end, particularly in the half court where they are shooting 68% around the basket.

- Mega Bemax is on pace to become the second team in the last decade to allow under 0.800 points per possession in the ABA League. Their full court pressure has been very disruptive so far this season.

- Petrol Olimpija is on pace to become the most efficient jump shooting team in ABA League history due in large part to the fact that as a team they are making 54% of their unguarded catch and shoot jump shots within their half-court offense.

- Budućnost VOLI is on pace for the most efficient transition scoring season in recent history building on their success pushing the ball last season.

It will be interesting to see how the top four teams in the standings are moving forward in head-to-head matchups and which teams from the middle of the pack emerge to vie for a spot in the 2019 playoffs.
