Game recap: In the opening game of the AdmiralBet ABA League Round 18, Zadar have prevailed over Vienna on the road in Hallmann Dome. In an important encounter of two teams, that entered the last round of the regular season tied in the standings, Zadar have triumphed over the home side and moved in front of the Vienna squad. The Dalmatians have finished their Regular Season campaign with a record of 5:11 and Vienna with 4:12, which might prove to be utterly important in the Play-out stage of the competition when the teams will be competing not only to avoid relegation, but also to qualify for the Play-in and possibly Playoffs afterwards.
Key moments: Vienna have opened the game more successfully than the visiting side and won the opening quarter by 6 points (18:12). Zadar fought back and by halftime managed to take a narrow lead (42:43) and afterwards made a decisive step towards the win between 23rd and 25th minute of the game, when they made a 7:0 run, to convert their 5-point lead (48:53) into a 12-point lead (48:60). As it turned out later, Vienna never managed to make it anybody’s game again until the end and these can be rightfully described as the key moments of the clash.
Man of the match: Borna Kapusta commanded his team from the point guard position just fine this time around. He had 19 points, alongside 9 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and a valuation of 27. He is our man of the match!
Can’t trick the stats: Zadar have been shooting three-pointers 40.7% (11/27) and that’s what handed them the win in the end. In comparison, Vienna’s 3-point shooting was only 18.8% (6/32), which was simply not enough to keep a pair of points at home.
